Craps

Craps is an exciting game of dice, fast action and quick movement. The Lighthouse Point pays 20x odds. Although it appears difficult, craps is easier to learn than you think. This guide is your first step.

TERMS IN CRAPS

PASS LINE- On the first roll you win on 7 or 11 and lose on 2,3, or 12. If any other number comes up, it becomes your point. If your point rolls again before a 7 is thrown, you win even money. If after the point is established, a 7 comes up before your point, you lose and the dice go to the next player.

COME- Another even money bet is the Come line. You may bet this anytime after the point is established. It is the same as betting the Pass line and you can try for a new point on the next roll of the shooter.

TAKING ODDS- This is a way of placing additional money on a Pass line or come bet. The amount of money paid on the odds is derived from the number of combinations of the dice, which will make that number.
True odds are: 6 to 5 on the 6 & 8
3 to 2 on the 5 & 9
2 to 1 on the 4 & 10
Unlike a Pass line or Come bet, odd bets may be called off or picked up at any time before a 7 is rolled.

DON’T PASS- Betting on the Don’t Pass is playing the game in reverse. You lose on a first roll of 7 or 11 and win on a 3 or 12. (2 is a standoff-no one wins). When 4,5,6,8,9 or 10 rolls, your bet is placed behind that number and you are betting that a 7 will be rolled before your number. This is an even money bet. This bet can be taken down at any time.

LAYING ODDS- This is the opposite of taking odds and is done on the Don’t Pass or Don’t Come after the bet has gone behind a number.
Don’t Pass and Don’t Come odds are: 6 & 8 – 6 to win 5
5 & 9 – 3 to win 2
4 & 10 – 2 to win 1
These bets may be removed anytime before the number they are on is rolled.

PLACE BETS- These pay odds but do not pay true odds and are ways of betting on additional numbers without going through the Pass line or Come line. Whenever you wish to make a Place Bet, just tell the dealer what number or numbers and how much, and he will place the bet for you.
Place Bet Odds are: 7 to 6 on 6 & 8
7 to 5 on 5 & 9
9 to 5 on 4 & 10
These also may be called off or taken down before a 7 is rolled. Just tell the dealer.

CRAPS

FIELD- You can bet the field every roll of the dice. If 2,3,4,9,10,11 or 12 rolls, you win. Each of these numbers pays even money except 2, which pays double, and 12, which pays triple. If 5,6,7 or 8 rolls, you lose. It is a one-roll bet.

BIG 6 OR 8- Here you are betting on a 6 or 8 and hoping they are rolled before a 7. This is an even money bet.

HARD WAYS- There are 4 Hard Way combinations; Hard 4 (two 2’s), Hard 6 (two 3’s), Hard 8 (two 4’s) Hard 10 (two 5’s). Bet any of these any time you want. Hard Ways 6 and 8 pay 9 to 1. Hard Ways 4 and 10 pay 7 to 1. For example, if you bet on a Hard Way 6, you are planning on that coming up before 7 or an easy way 6 (5 and 1 or 4 and 2).

BUY BETS- These bets are similar to Place Bets, but with slightly different odds. If you want to bet the shooter will roll a 4,5,6,8,9 or 10 – before he throws a 7, inform the dealer which number you want to buy. He will place the bet. Buy bet minimums are $20 on 4,5,9 or 10 and $24 on 6 & 8. You must pay a charge of five percent of the wager to the House at the time you make this bet. Payoff odds for buy bets are true and correct odds – two to one on 4 and 10, three to two on 5 and 9, six to five on 6 & 8. You may buy or take off these bets at any time. If you do take off a bet, the five percent charge is returned to you.

LAY BETS- If you want to bet that the shooter will not roll a 4,5,6,8,9 or 10 before he rolls a 7, inform the dealer which number you wish to buy. He will place your bet. You must pay an added amount of five percent of the amount to be won to the House at the time you make this bet. Payoff odds for lay bets are true and correct odds – one to two on 4 and 10, two to three on 5 and 9, five to six on 6 and 8. You may lay or take off these bets at any time. If you do take off a bet, the five percent charge is returned to you.

ONE ROLL BETS- Bets placed on the "Any Craps" section of the layout (covers number 2,3 and 12) pay seven to one. Bets placed on 3 or 11 pay fifteen to one, bets placed on 2 or 12 pay thirty to one, any 7 pays four to one. The Dealer (or stick person) will place these bets for you.

HORN BETS- If you want to bet the shooter will roll either 2,3,11 or 12, make a horn bet. If the shooter rolls any of these numbers, you win. It is a one-roll proposition that pays high odds. If a 2 or 12 is thrown, it pays 6.75 to one. If a 3 or 11 is thrown, it pays three to one. The Dealer will place these bets for you.

ONE ROLL HARD WAYS- There are four "Hard Way" combinations Hard 4 (two 2’s), Hard 6 (two 3’s), Hard 8 (two 4’s), Hard 10 (two 5’s). A one roll or "hopping hard way" is a bet that a specific hard way number will roll on the next roll of the dice. These bets pay 30 to 1 when the number rolls and lose if any other number rolls.
